Lost In Translation
Scene description:
DVD chapter: Chapter 5
**Note** You will want to start the clip at about 12:20 in the film since there is a comic book image in the first few seconds of the chapter that won't work for a large group.
Charlotte (Scarlett Johansen) is spending time in Japan while her husband is working. This chapter has her exploring Tokyo - wandering among the masses of people and going to a Buddhist temple. The clip ends with an awkward conversation on the phone with a friend.
Context for using the clip:
Sometimes we feel out of place. We feel lost amongst the people that surround us, the religious practices that we thought would give meaning fail us, and then our friends seem to be distant and inaccesible. What do we do when that happens? I suppose the ulitimate question this clip raises is, "what are we going to do when those things in which we place our trust, don't work for us like we want them to?"
