Magnolia
Scene description:
DVD chapter: Chapter 11
Magnolia is a movie about broken people whose lives are falling apart. At the point where conditions are so dire that nothing could improve, something remarkable intervenes that affects each them profoundly - an ocean of frogs fall from the sky. It's both ridiculous and sublime.
The film maker said about his use of the frogs that sometimes life gets so crappy that something has to happen outside of yourself. You can't solve these problems and eventually something (or someone) has to intervene. This scene could work well with a piece on God's intervention in human history or suffering (in the sense of recognizing God's prescence in the midst of it.)
