Scene description:
DVD chapter: Chapter 15 and 16
This clip deals with masters and disciples. During a fight sequence, Li Mu Bai, a master, offers to take Jen Yu under his wing as a disciple. He his able to recognize the influence of Jade Fox upon his young advesary. Jen Yu rejects the offer and returns to Jade Fox, where conflict arises.
The idea of this clip is that disciples will take on the demeanor of the master under whom they learn. In the case of Jen Yu, she has become the thief that Jade Fox is. Li Mu Bai offers her a better way, but in her selfishness, she rejects it.
I could imagine using this clip in a discipleship or leadership context to talk with people about the powerful impact that discipling can have upon people and the need for the discipler to be a person on integrity. It also serves as a reminder for us to be connected to God in all our endeavors. The more we are in step with the one true Master, the more we are likely to reflect his character.
