Director of Operations - Vice President

Karon was born in Santa Monica, CA and grew up learning all aspects of ETronics, the electronic manufacturing business her parents owned and operated. Karon was co-manager of the business in the early 1970s.

She came to faith in Christ in 1973 through the college ministry of Bel Air Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, and as a result highly values the ministry of college students to college students. She was active in the college group leadership team for seven years, and was on the church staff for three years, frequently serving with college ministry directors who were current or former InterVarsity staff.

Karon earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a Journalism minor from California State University, Northridge. While working on her degree Karon also did contract and office management for Econergy, an energy consulting firm working on Dept. of Energy contracts.

Since 1997, Karon has served as Vice President and Director of Operations. In this role, she oversees support service areas including Finance (Accounting and Donation Services), Information Technology Services, Human Resources, InterVarsity Store, Legal Department, and InterVarsity’s  Retreat and Training Centers: Campus by the Sea,  Cedar Campus and Toah Nipi.

Andy, Karon’s husband, is a biologist who works in Water Resource Management for the Department of Natural Resources for the State of Wisconsin. The Mortons live in Madison and have two sons, Scott and Jon. They attend Blackhawk Evangelical Free Church.
