Crew & Staff on Mt., Summer '06

Crew Program: (more info)

Bear Trap has three crew programs a year (Spring, Summer, and Fall). Our summer crew program is the largest of the three programs where students work from approximately mid May to mid August. The summer crew program is when we will have the largest need for staff. There are many different positions available during the summer such as kitchen staff, children's program staff, and clean team members. The fall and spring crew crew programs are smaller and they are designed for students who are taking a semester off from classes or recent graduates. Positions include kitchen staff, clean team members, and maintenance staff. Check out the following links for job descriptions, applications, and reference forms. (Please contact Will at the Bear Trap Office for more information or if you have problems viewing the documents. Thanks!)

Internship Programs:

Bear Trap offers a variety of experiences for students and recent graduates interested in a three to twelve month internship. We have two programs for recent graduates, and one for students still in school.

Please check out our General Information on Internships (PDF) to learn more about our approach and ethos about internships for recent graduates.

Camp Ministry Internships: (more info - PDF)
The Camp Ministry Internship is for recent graduates desiring to explore/prepare for a career in camping. BTR's Program lets you "roll" through our camp's various departments (office, food service, recreation, facilities, guest services, etc.) to gain a greater working understanding of the "operations" side of a camp. A six to nine month internship period is recommended. BTR staff will assist the intern in making broad connections with the camping industry, including Christian Camping International, an outstanding camping association located in Colorado Springs, BTR's three InterVarsity sister camps, and the plethora of great camps located in Colorado. A job description is posted for your review.

Career Field Internships:
The Career Field Internships are for recent graduates who want to gain experience in their career field by using their training in a camp setting for a short period of time. A broad variety of majors could find BTR a good place to use school-acquired training, including: computer science/web design, hotel and restaurant management, food science, interior design, marketing, graphic design, parks and recreation administration, architecture, engineering, management, finance, business, retail sales, etc. These internships will be specifically tailored to a person's time frame, experience, career goals, and the needs of our camp. Contact Jon at Bear Trap to start a discussion about an internship designed for you.

School Related Internships:
If an internship is required in your field of study, or is an optional elective, BTR can be your internship site and will gladly work with your professors to document and assess your activities/projects during your time with us. These are generally shorter internships (three months) and the student is not expected to raise support. Housing and a small stipend are provided. We have hosted interns in hotel management and recreation administration. Because the operations of a camp are so broad, we can host interns in a broad range of fields. Contact Jon at BTR to discuss internship possibilities for you.
