"This is great! I love the fact that a prof. would think this way. I'm personally facing a mission as well and it's to be able to present in a research paper for my women in literature English class Women from the Bible I have only a few days to hand it in and I've had trouble in knowing how to aproach this subject in the secular. I go to a Cuny school and I want to let my prof. and classmates and others who read my research paper how important these characters are in women's literature. I've been asking God to help me show Him in a way that the audience will apreciate Him and know through these women His power, I'm trusting Him to show me the way because it is crucial to expose the true values of Ester, Ruth , and so many other women along with contemporary women even myself who are brave and also great writers. Thank you for this well written perspective. ..." read on » ]]>

Comment on Following Christ 2008 Theme: Human Flourishing http://www.intervarsity.org/gfm/resource/theme#com1724 Following Christ 2008 Theme: Human Flourishing

"Greetings! Cornelius Plantinga comments in his book Not The Way It Is Supposed to Be, p.10 - "The webbing together of God, humans, and all creation in justice, fulfillment, and delight is what the Hebrew prophets call shalom. We call it peace but it means far more than mere peace of mind or a cease-fire between enemies. In the Bible, shalom means universal flourishing, wholeness and delight – a rich state of affairs in which natural needs are satisfied and natural gifts fruitfully employed, a state of affairs that inspires joyful wonder as its Creator and Savior opens doors and welcomes the creatures in whom he delights. Shalom, in other words, is the way things ought to be. " Echoing Nicholas Wolterstorff, Plantinga speaks of the calling of Calvin College, and Wolterstorff would say of all scholars, as a calling to "shalom". You can read his brief remarks at the website below. http://www.calvin.edu/about/shalom.htm Shalom, human flourishing - I pray that we recognize the immensely important calling this is to us all. May God guide us all - John ..." read on » ]]>

"We lost our first beautiful baby daughter when I was 29 weeks gestation-she would be 24 years old now. We were blessed with Christian nurses and Dr. It was even more difficult for those caring for us as I was an RN at the small hospital where I delivered. I am sure your patient thanks God for you when she remembers her loss as I do for those who cared for us. God bless you...." read on » ]]>
