In Fall 2003, we launched The Daniel Project (TDP): Preparing The Emerging Generation of Asian Americans To Lead InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. InterVarsity’s Asian American Ministries Coordinating Team identified 14 outstanding young Asian American staff who participated in an intensive 15-month mentoring and leadership development program that ran from October 2003 to December 2004.
A second cohort of The Daniel Project began in October 2005 and was completed in December 2006.
When we planned The Daniel Project, we started with the question, “How can we best train young Asian American leaders to become senior leaders in InterVarsity?” Everything that went into The Daniel Project was an attempt to answer that one question. After running TDP, we believed there were a number of components (or at least our goals for training) that would apply in other cultures. In 2005 InterVarsity’s Black and Latino campus ministries respectively developed their own leadership cohorts and the third Daniel Project cohorts ran October 2006 - December 2007.
