Asian American views on Ethnic Specific Ministry and Multi-ethnic Ministry This paper will address the two main types of Asian American ministry that we have in InterVarsity: ethnic specific and multiethnic. (Within the category of ethnic specific fellowships, they are Pan Asian American, Korean American or Chinese American). We will talk about the Scriptural basis for these fellowships, presenting two views as well as to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the two types of ministries. This paper is intended for Asian American staff and students. Though it may relate to other situations as well, it is not intended to address issues of all ethnic specific ministries. Before we start, we want to start by introducing ourselves a bit and sharing some about our background, and why we are writing this paper.  (more info)

Genesis 1-3 People have grappled over the Genesis creation narrative for hundreds of years. Some see it as an un-historical myth, others see it as a literal, factual record of the beginning of the universe and humanity. Some people believe in a literal “6-24 hour creation days” and that the earth is somewhere between six-thousand and ten-thousand years old. Others believe that God created the universe in “6-epoch length periods of time” and that the earth is billions of years old. Some believe in neither. I think that both views are missing the point. Often what happens is that we focus on peripheral themes, missing fundamental themes in the story. It is safe to say that historical and scientific issues were not in the mind of the author when he recorded the Genesis creation story in approximately 2000 BC. So what was on the mind of the author? How are we to understand this story? What is it trying to tell us? How does it relate to me? More importantly, how does this story fit into my story-where is the juxtaposition?  (more info)

Resume Builder Involvement with InterVarsity often competes with students who need internships to pad their resume. Often, people don't realize that students who are involved with leadership in InterVarsity gain a lot of useful skills. Being in InterVarsity leadership will give a student skill sets that are comparable to many secular internships. This table is a resource to InterVarsity staff and students. Staff may use this information to give students an organizational incentive to be involved with the fellowship. The students may use this information to prepare a resume, personal statement, curriculum vitae, interview, letter of intent, or cover letter.  (more info)
