1) Cut out the 6-sided figure, keeping all
five squares together--cut only the
perimeter.
2) Make two additional straight-line cuts,
and two only, to create the pieces which
together form a single square, with no
remainder pieces left over.
3) In case of a tie, the cleanest square
(fewest extra markings) wins.
