Another Look at Aging

“Is Aging a Crummy Deal?” asks Kathy Schoonover-Shoffner, the editor of the Journal of Christian Nursing, in an editorial in the Winter 2006 issue. As we watch our parents and our elderly friends endure the difficulties of aging, we acknowledge a reality that will eventually arrive for each of us. Uncomfortable questions nag us about the future loss of our own mental acuity and physical vitality.

But our anxious perspective about these later years may not be the same as God’s perspective. Several articles in the winter issue show how God values us no matter what our age and how God’s faithfulness continues from the beginning of our life to its end. Aging may take away some of our independence, but depending on God is important no matter how old we are.
