Pastors Day at InterVarsity

InterVarsity’s new Department of Church Relations invited Madison-area clergy to lunch at the National Service Center to thank them for their spiritual leadership and to talk about the relationship between InterVarsity and the church. About 50 pastors, representing a variety of denominations, attended the Open House.

Church Relations Director Ridley Usherwood told the pastors about the resources that InterVarsity has created specifically for the use of churches. Ridley has begun holding a series of forums at churches around the country to strengthen relationships between InterVarsity and churches. InterVarsity President Alec Hill welcomed the pastors and discussed the mission of InterVarsity on our nation’s college campuses. InterVarsity’s Vice President for Missions, Jim Tebbe, talked about InterVarsity’s triennial Urbana Student Mission Convention, coming up in December 2006 in St. Louis. InterVarsity’s Vice President for Advancement, Andrea McAleenan, invited the pastors to build stronger ties to InterVarsity.

Many of the pastors expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn more about InterVarsity’s strategic work on the college campus. Some of the pastors attending were already familiar with InterVarsity, having been members of InterVarsity’s chapters during their college days.

The church is God’s primary way of advancing his kingdom in this world. InterVarsity, through its campus ministries, is dedicated to developing life-long church members and building ministry relationships with churches.
