Serious Study

Many non-Christian students at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana, discuss important questions about faith and life in the fraternity and sorority system.

Over 70 students meet weekly for Greek IV, where they hear from speakers about sharing their faith and living out the Gospel. Many of these students are involved in one of the 15 GIGs, (Groups Investigating God), Bible studies for non-Christians, in fraternity and sorority houses on campus.

Justin, one of the students attending a GIG said, “I began this year not having much faith in anything. Then, several men in the Phi Delta Thata house started a GIG. I started to take the Bible and my faith in God more seriously. I accepted Christ as a result of the GIG I was involved in.”

Fraternity and Sorority students from around the country will gather in Indianapolis, IN, on February 4-6 for Greek Conference 2005. Another group is expected at the Charlotte, NC, conference on February 18-20. Greek conference is the largest InterVarsity student event outside of Urbana.

InterVarsity has had a focused outreach to fraternity and sorority students since 1991. Go here for more information on Greek ministry.
