Area Ministry Director - GFM New England

InterVarsitys Graduate & Faculty Ministries (GFM) seeks an Area Director to develop and lead a diverse team serving graduate students and faculty in New England. This Area includes universities in CT, RI, NH, VT, ME, and MA (although not Boston, which is a separate GFM Area). Located in one of the most university-dense regions in the country, this New England Area has 12 Research 1 and Research 2 Universities, with particular strength in educating students for vocations in academia, scientific research, healthcare, law, public health, environmental science, and the arts. The current GFM New England team consists of 7 GFM staff and volunteers serving part-time, who serve 12 chapters (PhD, Law, MBA, Healthcare, Faculty, etc.) at UNH, Yale, Brown, Dartmouth, Southern CT State, and UConn-Avery Point, as well as an emerging chapter at Univ. of VT. Our vision is for this Area Director to hire staff and develop a team to reach the universities in New England with no ministry yet for grad students or faculty. This is a significant opportunity to plant new ministry and expand witness among grad students and faculty.

The ideal candidate has previous supervisory experience, can build and lead healthy teams, has strong cultural competency and people skills, and enjoys working with a diverse and committed group of staff and volunteers. This person must be prayerful and able to clearly articulate a vision for planting and growing witnessing communities of graduate students and faculty which draws in ministry partners, potential GFM staff, and missional students and faculty leaders. Theological education and/or advanced degrees are considered an asset.

The GFM Area Director will provide leadership to plant ministry on new campuses and develop the ministry on existing campuses, advancing InterVarsitys mission through clear goals and objectives. This GFM Area Director will hire, supervise, and develop campus ministry staff and volunteers. This AD will regularly gather the team, create and implement Area-wide programs, and raise personal and ministry funds.
