Campus Staff - Florida International University (MMC Campus)

Florida International University was founded in 1965 and is located in Miami. FIU is the largest university in South Florida, the 2nd-largest in Florida, and the 4th-largest in the United States. Total enrollment in 2014-2015 was 54,099 students, but the vast majority of these students (over 90%) live off campus. FIU is one of the nation's leading Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI); over 60% of the student body is Hispanic, a true reflection of the city of Miami itself.

Description: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in South Florida is seeking a Campus Staff Minister (CSM) for the Undergraduate chapter of Florida International University. FIU is a mainly commuter campus attracting a diverse body of students. Currently the chapter is in the planting stage with a handful of core students. This CSM will be responsible to replant the chapter at FIU, by establishing Jesus-centered communities in every corner of campus.

Requirements: The CSM that will thrive at FIU is someone who is a visionary, a natural gatherer and who is able to take risks. Creatively, resilience and dependence on God will serve this CSM well in the planting process. FIU is located in one of the most diverse cities in the US: Miami. It will be important for this person to be familiar with caribbean and Latino cultures and adapt easily to a new culture. He/she will find and gather missional students and build an expanding student-led ministry. All staff are expected to raise their ministry budget and will receive training in Ministry Partner Development. Applicants must be able to express a strong sense of calling to this mission.
