Campus Staff Minister - Baylor University

Baylor University: As an institution of higher education Baylor U is unique.  In addition to being the oldest continuously operating university in Texas, it is also the first and only Research 1 institution (R1) committed to maintaining its Christian identity.  Hence it attracts thoughtful Christians drawn to serious scholarship and rigorous research and is well-poised to shape future intellectual leadership for the church.  Baylor has 4,000 graduate students in over 100 programs; 1600 of these are PhD. Students working in 35+ programs, a number of them nationally ranked.  Baylor is located in Waco, TX a town of about 240,000.  Waco sits on the I-35 corridor mid-way between the cosmopolitan centers of Dallas/Ft. Worth and Austin.

Description: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries (GFM) is seeking a Campus Staff Minister (CSM) for Baylor.   This CSM will serve an existing community of graduate and professional students as well as establish a new ministry to university faculty, establishing and advancing communities which give expression to our core commitments.

Requirements: In addition to qualities all GFM Staff should possess, this person will serve as a planter and will need strong gifts in leadership and a commitment to evangelism.  He/she will engage and initiate with a diversity of people, cast vision for a robust community that explores the integration of faith, vocation and practice.  Additionally, he/she will gather students and faculty into communities centered on mission.   All staff are expected to raise their ministry budget and will receive training in Ministry Partner Development.  All applicants must be able to express a strong sense of calling to this mission.  Applicants seeking full-time and part-time positions will be considered.
