Campus Staff Minister - University of Connecticut

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries (GFM) is looking to fill the position of a Campus Staff Member to serve a witnessing community of graduate students and faculty members at the University of Connecticut, developing them for faithfulness to Christ in leadership, academia, and professional service around the world. The person we want shall have a strong desire to give expression to GFM’s four core commitments.

The University of Connecticut, recognized as a “public ivy” in terms of its faculty and level of scholarship, has 8,000 graduate and professional students and over 9,000 faculty and staff members in over 100 departments. Our vision is to create communities of students and faculty who grow in their faith, experience their work as a means of reflecting God’s work in the world, and live as representatives of Christ on campus. Besides the main campus in rural Storrs, the Law School and Medical/Dental School are in nearby Hartford, Connecticut’s capital city.

Currently a graduate student fellowship is active on the Storrs campus and we have contact with several faculty members. A Campus Staff Member would work alongside these leaders and initiate new ministries in other departments around campus and at the nearby professional schools.

We are looking for a candidate who takes initiative, has experience in working with volunteer teams, relates well with a wide variety of people, is eager to learn, and believes that the academy can be a redemptive influence in the world. We prefer someone with academic work beyond a Bachelor’s Degree.  Theological education is an asset but is not required. Either part time or full time employment is possible.

How to Apply

Only applicants who meet the following qualifications will be considered for next steps:

  • A graduate degree is preferred. A completed Bachelor's degree is required
  • Staff must raise the funds needed for their salary, benefits and ministry expenses from churches and individuals
  • Additional qualifications required for specific positions
