Established in 1927, the UH is one of seven “Research 1” institutions in Texas, having attained that status for the first time in 2011.  It is the third largest university in Texas, with 6,000 graduate students, 2,600 faculty, 50 doctoral and professional degree programs and 36 research centers.  The schools of Social Work and Pharmacy are ranked in the top 50 in the U.S.  Located in one of the most cosmopolitan and diverse cities in the country, the UH student body has roughly 75% students of color and over 3,000 international students.

Description

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries (GFM) is seeking a Campus Staff Minister (CSM) for the University of Houston.   This CSM will plant a campus ministry, establishing and advancing communities of graduate students, professional students and faculty who give expression to our core commitments.

Requirements

In addition to qualities all GFM Staff should possess, this person will exhibit strong gifts in leadership, networking, gathering and a commitment to evangelism.  He/she will engage and initiate with a diversity of people, cast vision for a robust Christian presence in academic departments, and gather students and faculty into communities centered on mission.   All staff are expected to raise their ministry budget and will receive training in Ministry Partner Development.  All applicants must be able to express a strong sense of calling to this mission.
