University of Oklahoma: Established in 1890, OU is situated in Norman, OK, 20 miles from Oklahoma City.  It is replete with tradition, pride and a robust sense of mission.  Ranked in the top 100 universities in the nation, OU is proud to have two graduate programs in the top 10 (Atmospheric Science and Meteorology, and Petroleum Science).  The total number of graduate students is 6,300, with 1,800 International scholars.  OU hosts several professional schools, including Law and Business, which are nationally ranked in the top 100.  The OU Health Sciences Center is one of only four in the nation with seven professional colleges, enrolling 4,000 students.  Norman has a small “college town” feel with many cultural amenities.

Description: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries (GFM) is seeking a Campus Staff Minister (CSM) for the University of Oklahoma.   This CSM will plant a new ministry, establishing and advancing communities of graduate students, professional students and faculty who give expression to our core commitments.  Nascent ministries exist with graduate students and faculty communities; we seek someone who can build and grow these networks.

Requirements: In addition to qualities that all GFM Staff should possess, this person will be in a planting context and will need strong gifts in leadership and a commitment to evangelism.  He/she will engage and initiate with a diversity of people, cast vision for a robust Christian presence in academic departments, and gather students and faculty into communities centered on mission.   All staff are expected to raise their ministry budget and will receive training in Ministry Partner Development.  All applicants must be able to express a strong sense of calling to this mission.
