Facilities Manager

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will contribute to an overall excellent camping experience by planning, managing the maintenance, construction, and renovation of the camp’s buildings and grounds.


  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world
  • Maintain buildings and grounds in a manner consistent with the quality standards of InterVarsity
  • Oversee rental and operation of heavy equipment
  • Trouble-shoot in all areas: electrical, plumbing, heating, carpentry, mechanics (vehicles and small engine) including grounds and buildings
  • Supervise needed repairs to buildings, plumbing, electrical, telephone system
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive approach to maintenance
  • Maintain operating records as required by community and governmental regulations
  • Prepare and submit reports
  • Maintain yearly fuel, preventive maintenance, and other contracts
  • Provide oversight for new building projects and major renovations
  • Oversee the evaluation and development of staff professionally and spiritually including conducting annual performance reviews and developing professional development plans (PDPs)
  • Serve as a member of the camp’s leadership team and participate in staff team activities and meetings
  • Assist in achieving camp financial objectives
  • Assist in ministry to summer crew and interns
  • Provide pastoral care and support of supervisees and summer staff
  • Develop a team for personal prayer and financial support


  • Annually affirm InterVarsity's Statement of Faith
  • InterVarsity background or equivalent ministry experience preferred
  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience in the building and construction trade
  • In-depth knowledge of a wide range of building and maintenance procedures
  • Working knowledge of automotive, electrical, heating, plumbing, and carpentry skills
  • Ability to operate light (chain saws, etc) and heavy equipment (tractors)
  • Experience working with camp-specific equipment and recreational items
  • Flexibility to work irregular and extended hours as required
  • Management skills and experience

  • Ability to take charge of tasks and work independently
  • A working knowledge of current Microsoft software applications
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must have a valid driver’s license be able to drive a standard transmission vehicle
  • Fresh Water Operators Permit preferred (willing to provide education to become certified)
  • Waste Water Operators Permit preferred (willing to provide education to become certified)
  • First Aid and CPR (adult & infant) preferred (willing to provide education to become certified)
