Faculty Ministry Staff - Downstate Illinois and Indiana

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries is seeking a growing follower of Jesus Christ with vision for ministry in the academy and a heart to serve those who serve in the academic context in downstate Illinois and Indiana.  This person will have the opportunity to do ministry with faculty at various campuses South of Chicago in Illinois and in Indiana.  The Mission of InterVarsity's Faculty Ministry is encouraging and equipping Christian scholars to flourish and be a redeeming influence among the people, ideas and structures of higher education.

A few Downstate Illinois & Indiana facts

  • Indiana is home to 46 colleges and Universities. 
  • Outside of the Chicago, Illinois metro area there are over 30 public and private colleges and universities.  
  • Faculty ministry with Intervarsity is increasing across the country as we plant new chapters.
  • Indiana and Downstate Illinois are rich in natural beauty with diverse cities and university towns which are conducive to enjoying life and ministry!

In faculty ministry, the staff person will be engaged in

  • Building faculty witnessing communities
  • Helping faculty live out their faith within their respective disciplines
  • Guiding faculty in being examples of Christian faith in the academy
  • Assisting faculty in discovering appropriate ways to influence students for Christ

Requirements:

  • A self-starter who demonstrates a passion for building witnessing communities
  • A deep appreciation for and understanding of faculty, academic staff, administrators and the academy
  • Theological education and/or advanced degrees are considered an asset.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to help organize, support, encourage and extend hospitality to a diverse range of people
