Food Services Coordinator

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will contribute to an overall excellent camping experience by ensuring the planning, preparation and serving of healthy and appealing meals and snacks to guests and setting appropriate for the camp.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world
  • Prepare appealing on-time nutritious meals:
  • Help plan and adjust menus, as necessary
  • Assist with aspects of food-related needs for guest groups
  • Keep records of camper days and meal counts
  • Maintain a clean and efficient kitchen and dining hall
  • Meet health department standards
  • Track inventory and order food and supplies, as needed
  • Assist the Food Service Manager with recruitment and hiring of new Crew
  • Raise an agreed-upon amount of personal financial support

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Annually affirm InterVarsity's Statement of Faith
  • Ability to vision and consider innovations for contribution to InterVarsity ministry
  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • InterVarsity background or equivalent ministry experience preferred
  • Previous experience cooking for large groups
  • Food and hospitality background preferred
  • Flexibility to work irregular and extended hours as required
  • Ability to work in a multigenerational and multicultural environment
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment
  • Ability to work well with others both staff, guests and volunteers
  • A working knowledge of industrial kitchen equipment preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple objectives
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Must have a Food Safety Certificate (willing to provide education to become certified)
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and be able to stand for long periods of time. (can we ask this?)
  • Ability to take charge of tasks and work independently as well as work cooperatively with others
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication skills
