International Student Ministry Campus Staff - University of Wisconsin - Madison

InterVarsity is seeking innovative people to work with international students in the graduate and professional schools of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Our International Student Ministry (ISM) campus staff will befriend and bring international students and scholars into community, developing them for faithfulness to Christ in leadership, academia, and service around the world. For many of the international students and scholars at UW-Madison, our relationship with them provides their first chance to engage with the Bible, learn about Jesus, experience Christian friendship, and see the integration of vibrant Christian life in their academic discipline.

3000 internationals are in UW-Madison’s graduate and professional programs, from over 100 countries. Our top countries of origin for grad students are China, India, and Korea. The opportunity is fantastic!

This ISM staff will need the perspective and interpersonal skills for academic and international relationships. The ability to communicate Biblical content and concepts to those who have no prior knowledge of them is fundamental. Successful experience living and working in another culture and country is preferred.

Our ministry benefits from several partnerships in the Madison area. A group of Christians ministering among internationals (both undergraduate and graduate) meets for monthly prayer, event planning, and encouragement.  Many church volunteers are involved in outreach events and building relationships with international students, scholars, and families. We also seek to build good relationships with official university programs/departments that serve international students and scholars.

As part of InterVarsity’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries we prioritize personal and corporate growth in Christ, forming communities that express the gospel in words and service, and the integration of faith, learning, and practice.
