Managing Editor

Please note that interviews for this position will be held during the first and second week of July, 2019. 

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will supervise and serve as editor for InterVarsity’s Editorial Team and work with the Director of Public Relations/Editorial Director and other leaders to develop messaging strategies for InterVarsity marketing and communications to a variety of audiences

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES

  • Be a maturing disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ
  • Develop the editorial plan and oversee production of quality written communication to InterVarsity’s external and internal audiences.
  • Lead InterVarsity’s editorial team
  • Maintain professional growth and involvement
  • Contribute to the team effort
  • Maintain sound financial status
  • Raise agreed-upon financial support

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement
  • Previous professional writing and proofreading experience required
  • Previous experience supervising staff or volunteers, and/or leading teams required
  • Knowledge of the Bible, theological acuity, and an understanding of how to apply principles of hermeneutics
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, Journalism, Writing or related field.
  • An interest in biblical or theological studies required; Some formal training in Bible or theology preferred
  • Previous experience with InterVarsity as a student or a staff member preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a diverse group
  • Ability to meet writing project deadlines
  • Familiarity with Microsoft software applications (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and AP Stylebook
