Missions Communication & Marketing Coordinator

*Please note that this position will require the raising of funds. This will be done with training, coaching, and support from InterVarsity*

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will define the brand of the Missions Department and oversee initiatives and programs to incorporate this into an effective communication and promotional marketing plan. The Missions Department is restructuring for growth in the number of students participating in a life-transforming short-term program. An essential element in the advancement the department’s growth goals is the development and implementation of a comprehensive communication and marketing plan tailored to multiple audience segments. The Communication & Marketing Coordinator is a paramount role in the advancement of the department.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Define brand of the Missions Department:

  • Drive the creation and messaging of the Missions Department brand and collaborate with the directors of Urban Programs, Global Urban Trek, China Global Programs, Global Programs, Study Abroad, and their respective team members, as well the Missions Ambassador-at-Large to identify core distinctives of each program area
  • Work closely with the Associate Director and Director of Missions in the final publication of the brand definition

Incorporate brand into a communication and promotional strategy:

  • Identify best methods for the communication and marketing to the various segments of the Missions Department target audience (i.e. students, campus staff, line managers, parents, church leaders)
  • Author thematic talking points which will be adopted and adapted by all Missions area teams
  • Construct and manage a communications calendar for webpages, social media platforms and print materials
  • In conjunction with the Associate Director, identify personnel within the Missions Team, Strategy & Innovation and other internal personnel to take point on specific communication management

Manage effective working relationships:

  • Travel to attend select Missions team events for research and to build rapport with department members
  • Effectively partner with InterVarsity Communications, Twentyonehundred Productions Graphics, Twentyonehundred Productions Videos and Campus Web Ministries in the development and implementation of Missions communication and promotional strategy

Contribute to missions-specific program growth (maximum 1 hour per week)

  • Assist in shaping the content and trajectory of the one of the Missions Program Areas (i.e. Environmental Programs; Urban Programs; Study Abroad, Global Programs or Global Urban Trek)
  • Develop a comprehensive perspective of programmatic and communications strategy through collaboration with one of the Missions Programs Areas

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Faith
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required
  • Demonstrates adaptability and openness to learn new concepts, methods and skills
  • 1-3 years of experience in marketing and communications
  • Has a working knowledge of internet communications strategies and social networking
  • Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines
  • Experience developing a communications strategy and communications plan, expanding and improving websites, and managing content and end-to-end editorial production
  • Enjoys working collaboratively and networking
  • 1-3 years of experience managing people and projects
  • Is willing and able to raise financial support and communicate with donors about prayer and financial needs
