National Campus Staff Minister - Nurses Christian Fellowship

To advance the mission and purpose of InterVarsity, this position has full campus ministry responsibilities and ministers to nursing students and faculty. The campus minister (NCF) exercises spiritual leadership and pastoral supervision and requires a mature understanding of both nursing students and the professional nursing context including the spiritual challenges that they face. Prior experience in full-time clinical nursing is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world.
  • Develop student ministry leadership teams as they pursue plans for spiritual growth and transformation
  • Provide pastoral care for a ministry leadership team, students, and faculty
  • Train, provide teaching, resources and opportunities for students and faculty to grow in their love for God and the Scriptures
  • Guide chapters in the development of strategic thinking regarding ministry and witness to the university and the professional nursing world.
  • Stay current with issues in the nursing profession
  • Serve as an ambassador of InterVarsity to individual ministry partners and churches through prayer, discussion of ministry efforts, mission, and accomplishments
  • Develop and maintain a ministry among partners to secure personal financial support, prayer support, and strategic funds for the ministry

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement (Doctrinal Basis and Purpose Statement). Abide by InterVarsity’s Code of Conduct. Believe and behave consonantly with InterVarsity’s Human Sexuality Theological Paper. Affirm and behave consonantly with InterVarsity’s “Women in Ministry Statement of Affirmation. 
  • Ministry skills (including the ability to communicate spiritual vision, teach spiritual and biblical principles, plan ministry programs, and spiritually disciple, coach and mentor)
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in nursing
  • Current RN licensure preferred
  • Willing to receive ongoing training
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize events for students and faculty
  • Ability to recognize and minister to various groups of people on campus
  • Ability to articulate, teach, and model the integration of Christian faith and nursing
