National Director of Ministry Volunteers

To advance the mission and purpose of InterVarsity, this position has significant leadership for the strategic oversight and deployment of volunteers to catalyze ministry on campus.  The Director develops and executes a strategy for volunteer recruitment, training, coaching, and performance. Close partnership with national and regional leadership is essential for the success of this role.


  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world
  • Create a culture of dependence on God to gain vision for establishing and advancing witnessing communities that reach every corner of every campus among ministry team members
  • Expand the use and effectiveness of volunteers in campus ministry teams
  • Develop and communicate a philosophy and apologetic of volunteerism for InterVarsity
  • Reinforce the importance of volunteer ministry in serving the organization
  • Promote partnership among the National Service Center, ministry departments, and the field
  • Secure personal financial and prayer support
  • Represent InterVarsity within the wider Christian community


  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement
  • Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred
  • Prior experience with InterVarsity strongly preferred
  • Four years’ experience in a supervisory position preferred
  • Experience in management and people development
  • Affirmation of ongoing call to ministry service with InterVarsity and its mission
  • Strong ministry skills (including the ability to communicate spiritual vision, teach spiritual and biblical principles, plan ministry programs, and spiritually disciple, coach and mentor)
