NYCUP Experiential Discipleship Coordinator

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will serve staff, students and ministry partners by developing a campus integrated leadership development program for all students and staff to implement biblical, effective, gospel-centered justice programming to plant and grow small groups, integrate alumni and donors, and engage the campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Personal Spiritual Duties
    • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God’s purposes in the world.
    • Practice daily spiritual disciplines
    • Pursue spiritual relationships and involvement in a worshipping community
    • Continue learning and growth in spiritual understanding, biblical knowledge, ministry experience and skills
    • Experience and live out an ongoing call to ministry service with InterVarsity and its mission
  • Ministry Leadership
    • Collaborate with NYCUP Director to develop, implement and assess RecWeek Experiences for all chapters in NY/NJ Regions and strategic partners in Blue Ridge, Red River, Mid-Atlantic as well as BCM, MEM and the national movement.
    • Participate in Fall Conferences for NY/NJ Region
    • Participate in Downstate Spiritual Formation Retreats
    • Regularly teach at Large Groups in the NY/NJ Region and other strategic partners
    • Lead the marketing and recruitment efforts to have at least 2 students from all campuses
    • Effectively develop a communication calendar and strategy for running week-long discipleship programming
    • Develop and maintain a “how-to” document for creating, implementing and assessing integrated justice programming to ensure sustainability and multiplication.
    • Coordinate with NYCUP Director and AD’s to recruit key staff and speakers
    • Fundraise an agreed to personal and programming
    • Cultivate a team of intercessors and investors that will sustain the minister and the ministry long term.
    • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with local non-profit and marketplace leaders
    • Collaborate with Regional and Area staff to create campus integrated missional content

​​QUALIFICATIONS

  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement (Doctrinal Basis and Purpose Statement). Abide by InterVarsity’s Code of Conduct. Believe and behave consonantly with InterVarsity’s Human Sexuality Theological Paper. Affirm and behave consonantly with InterVarsity’s “Women in Ministry Statement of Affirmation”
  • Ongoing call to InterVarsity and its mission
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum three years’ work experience with InterVarsity or another campus ministry
  • Ministry skills including the ability to communicate spiritual vision, teach spiritual and biblical principles, plan ministry programs, and spiritually disciple, coach and mentor
  • Developed expertise in a focused ministry
  • Willing to receive ongoing training
  • Contribute to an open and supportive relationship with ministry team members
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organize campus wide events
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and files
