InterVarsity’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries in Greater Cincinnati is seeking someone who will invest in the Christian formation and professional development of students pursuing their Law, M.B.A., and other professional degrees. The person in this role would be part of our broader Graduate and Faculty Ministries team working with those ministering to faculty, graduate students, and international students. People in this role must be ready to build relationships that may seem brief but can extend through a lifetime of service and partnership.
Context:
In Greater Cincinnati we are developing a Graduate and Faculty Ministries team to plant and nourish vibrant communities of graduate students and faculty who are witnessing to Christ at the intersections of campus and church as we walk with God in renewing the people, ideas, and structures campuses across the region.
Branching out from the banks of the Ohio River and into the surrounding neighborhoods and cities, Greater Cincinnati offers a rich cultural, economic, and social community. Within this region, three universities: the University of Cincinnati (UC), Northern Kentucky University (NKU), and Xavier University (XU), together serve 65,000 students (14,000 of these students are graduate and professional school students) and employ over 8,000 faculty members. Other colleges within and near the I-275 beltway include Cincinnati Christian University, Cincinnati State, Hebrew Union Institute, Mt. St. Joseph, Thomas More, Union Institute and University, and Cincinnati Art Institute.
As we walk with individuals on these campuses, equipping them to teach, research, and serve out of their faith in Jesus Christ, their impact will be felt in classrooms, labs, departments, and beyond.
Requirements:
We are seeking candidates with initiative to plant new and grow existing ministries to graduate students, professional school students, international students and faculty. The successful applicant will have a deep appreciation for and understanding of graduate students, faculty, academic staff, administrators, and the academy. A graduate degree is preferred for this position but not required. Good communication and interpersonal skills are a must along with the ability to appreciate various cultural backgrounds. This person will also have the ability to organize, support, encourage, and extend hospitality to a diverse range of people.
InterVarsity’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries is committed to the spiritual formation and personal development of each person, belonging to a Christian community, a lifestyle of evangelism and service, and integrating faith, learning, and practice. This staff person will need to embrace and engage the organizational breadth of InterVarsity.
