Professional students approach their studies with intensity as they strive for a high level of academic excellence.  Someone who values this same ethic will enjoy working with Law students and Veterinary Medicine students as they grow in faith together.  Opportunities to work with additional professional school chapters may also develop.  We are looking for someone with a high degree of competence to help professional students pursue their faith while pursuing a high intensity degree.  The person for this position will enjoy digging deeply into the Word of God and helping students answer important questions about faith and vocation. 

University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign Context

  • The University of Illinois includes over 15,000 graduate students in over 150 programs of study.
  • The VetMed program has over 500 students each year, while the Law school has around 400 students each year.
  • With over 7,000 International graduate students there is a great opportunity to impact the world.
  • InterVarsity already has a graduate student chapter at Illinois with 40-50 students participating.  The person hired for this position have a well experienced colleague to learn from.

Requirements

  • A deep appreciation for and understanding of faculty, academic staff, administrators and the academy
  • Post-baccalaureate education (graduate degree preferred)
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to help organize, support, encourage & extend hospitality to a diverse range of people
