Professional Schools Ministry Specialist - University of Wisconsin - Madison

InterVarsity’s Professional Schools Ministries (PSM) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking people who will invest in the Christian formation and professional development of students pursuing their Law degree or M.B.A. The person(s) in this role would be part of our broader PSM team (including health sciences), along with those ministering to Ph.D. students and international students. Nationally, our PSM department is well-resourced by people with business and ministry experience.

UW’s Grainger School of Business has 200 full-time MBA students and another 200 evening and/or executive MBA students. The full-time program is ranked ninth nationally for “most satisfied MBA graduates” (source: Forbes 2014). The pace and demands are high, and themes of leadership, success, and power are pervasive. Our PSM staff work in that context to form followers of Jesus, encouraging and challenging students and professionals to follow Christ’s example and to live their calling in their work.

Our law school has about 600 students, with nearly ten percent ethnic minorities, and another ten percent international students. In our work we partner closely with the Christian Legal Society to build strong Christ-followers who can faithfully engage in the challenges and redemptive opportunities the legal profession provides.

In both the M.B.A. and Law programs, students are usually available to us for only one or two years. People in this PSM role must be ready to build relationships that may seem brief, but can extend through a lifetime of service and partnership. We strategically equip and engage these young professionals, having a vital “pastoral” presence in their lives. We help them realize their primary value as people precious to God, and as Christ-formed people who are called to serve.

We’d love to have you join our team on the beautiful UW-Madison campus!
