Student Ministries Director

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will lead and direct the student ministry of Nurses Christian Fellowship as NCF seeks to equip nursing students, nursing faculty, NCF professional members (nurses), and InterVarsity staff to plant and build witnessing communities of nursing students and faculty on campus.

Through the 2030 Calling, God has called InterVarsity to plant and to build 2500 witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus on college and university campuses by the year 2030. Through these groups, we believe ever-increasing numbers of students and faculty from all ethnic groups and areas of the campus will be transformed by the Gospel. We expect to see campuses increasingly become places where people, ideas, and structures flourish to the glory of God. We confidently anticipate that our InterVarsity alumni will become change agents across the country and around the world. We pursue this calling by discerning and actively participating in what God is already doing on campus.


  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world
  • Communicate and model the InterVarsity vision to see nursing students and faculty transformed, campuses renewed, and world changers developed. 
  • Create, develop, align and leverage ministry plans, programs, teams, and structures to reach goals. 
  • Intentionally partner with campus staff to gather, invite, and develop diverse groups of nursing students and faculty so that they not only encounter and follow Jesus as Savior and Lord but also advance the mission on campus as leaders and participants
  • Lead, direct, and empower assigned NCF staff to coach, resource, and communicate with staff, nursing students, faculty, and NCF nurse members to start and build NCF student ministry. 
  • Work with a network of local, area, regional, and national InterVarsity staff and volunteers in a manner that reflects biblical standards of excellence, integrity, and partnership. 
  • Help NCF develop a team of partners – churches and individuals (including alumni, NCF professional members, and community members) – who will resource the ministry financially, in prayer, or volunteer service that advances the mission.



  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement, Code of Conduct, position on Human Sexuality, and women in leadership
  • A passion for nursing—students, educators, nurses—and the university and college world
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 3+ years in supervision and/or in leadership roles at an area/departmental/regional level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (including ability to minister to diverse ethnic communities and faculty)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Previous experience working with nursing students preferred
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle all matters in a confidential manner
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships, work collaboratively, and influence others
  • Ability to participate in InterVarsity staff meetings and conferences, area, regional and national student conferences and to staff, students and faculty on campuses
  • Commitment to continued professional growth as a leader of student ministry
  • A working knowledge of current Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Previous experience with ministry partner development (MPD)
  • Physical requirements: standing, walking, speaking/presenting, lifting (boxes, materials), carrying, transporting luggage during travel, etc.
  • Able to travel periodically to InterVarsity’s National Service Center (Madison, WI), NCF and InterVarsity meetings, including the triennial Urbana Student Missions Conference and InterVarsity’s triennial National Staff Conference, other conferences which expand exposure to NCF audiences and resources.
