Campus Ministry

Ministry at urban commuter colleges is always difficult, but California State University Los Angeles has been more challenging than most for InterVarsity staff members. Each of the first three years that Maite Rodriguez began a new ministry year at Cal State L.A. was like starting all over again.

Ife Ojetayo actively participated in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Binghamton University in New York from fall 2000 until spring 2004. While attending college, Ife was a small group leader and the InterVarsity chapter president for two years.

For the first time ever InterVarsity leaders at the University of California—San Diego reserved Mandeville Auditorium, the biggest auditorium on campus, to host their first large group meeting at the beginning of the fall semester.

The state of Oklahoma had not had an InterVarsity presence in 20 years when Chris Goree and his wife Laurie began a chapter plant at Oklahoma University in 2008. Chris brought several years of experience in campus ministry to the plant, as well as ten years in the practice of law, but he was new to InterVarsity.

Ohio State University abounds in diversity. It's the largest university campus in the country. And figuring out how to engage diversity among 55,000 students has been a challenge for InterVarsity's team leader on campus, Ram Sridharan.
