The Bridge Diagram is an illustration used to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ. One side of the diagram represents God, while the other side represents fallen man. There is a bridge connecting God and man. That bridge is Jesus Christ. We are given the choice to accept God through Jesus Christ by crossing the bridge.

During InterVarsity’s “Breakthrough” student conference Eric Teague, InterVarsity staff at the University of Texas-San Antonio, asked his small group, “Where would you place yourself on the diagram?”

“I’m still over on the man side!” Herbert blurted out.

During InterVarsity’s “Breakthrough” student conference Eric Teague, InterVarsity staff at the University of Texas-San Antonio, asked his small group, “Where would you place yourself on the diagram?”

“I’m still over on the man side!” Herbert blurted out. Herbert was referring to the state in which man lives separated from God, doomed to death as the wage for his sin.

“What is keeping you from crossing over to the other side of the diagram?” Eric asked.

“I’m not sure,” Herbert replied.

“Do you want to cross over to the other side?” Eric asked Herbert.

“Yes,” was his simple reply.

“What do you think is your next step?” Eric kept asking questions, letting Herbert come up with his own answers.
“I need to accept the free gift of eternal life that God offers to me through Jesus Christ.” Herbert answered, using the vocabulary he had just learned from studying Romans 6:23.

“Are you ready to take that step of faith now?” Eric asked.

“Yeah, I think so,” Herbert replied. Eric went on to get Herbert to explain the message of the Gospel and ensure that he understood the decision he was making. That morning, Herbert proclaimed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and entered the Kingdom of God.
