InterVarsity Press Receives Chicago Book Clinic Award of Excellence for The Girl in the Orange Dress

WESTMONT, IL—InterVarsity Press’s The Girl in the Orange Dress: Searching for a Father Who Does Not Fail received the Award of Excellence for a nonfiction general trade book at the Chicago Book Clinic’s annual Book & Media Show on October 22, 2009. The awards show is held each year to honor excellence in the planning, supervision and execution of the physical and visual aspects of publishing media. The judging panel is a distinguished group of publishing professionals chosen for their knowledge of bookmaking.

“We realize we were competing against many talented designers from all different types of publishing houses,” observed Anne Gerth, director of production and fulfillment for IVP. “To win in the general category was especially meaningful for us.”

The Girl in the Orange Dress, by first-time author Margot Starbuck, details Starbuck’s childhood as an adopted daughter, her subsequent feelings of rejection due to her adoptive parents’ divorce and her search for her birth father. Ultimately she finds true love and acceptance in “a father who does not fail.”
