If you knew me in college, I was always certain that I would never join staff with InterVarsity. Yet, somehow God placed me in positions where it became inevitable. When I was in college, we had the unfortunate experience of having new staff every year. From my first year, to senior year, we had some new staff overseeing us. This led to a lot of hardship. As a result, myself and many student leaders stepped up and really took ownership of the fellowship. We knew how important it was to have and be a Christian community on campus. I became heavily involved as a student leader and found myself being treated like a staff at conferences. The staff from other campuses would always invite me to their meetings as if I was one of them, and I would always be in shock saying: “I’m still a student! Seriously!” When I graduated and moved across the country to attend graduate school at Tufts University, I never expected to serve. I wanted to participate and really see how my life would be different. Interestingly enough, God opened a door and within two weeks of being on campus, I was running an upperclassmen Bible study and by the end of the semester I was a volunteer staff. Today, I work a full time job as a teacher in Cambridge, and I spend 18 hours a week after school with Tufts students. From Bible Studies to prayer to mentor ship and discipleship, God has opened my heart to being his servant on this campus.
