ESPN Highlights InterVarsity Chapter Leader

Last March we were saddened by the untimely death of Jason Ray, a leader of the InterVarsity chapter at the University of North Carolina (UNC). Jason was involved in more activities than the typical student. He was best known on campus as the highly visible and highly energetic UNC mascot, Rameses the Ram.

Jason brought a high level of energy to every aspect of his life, including his faith in God and his passion for UNC athletics. He was also an organ donor.

ESPN cable and espn.com produced a major story on Jason that was picked up around the country. The story was part of the debut of a new ESPN news magazine called E:60, Tuesday Oct. 16, 2007.

The story highlights Jason’s passion for life, which includes the life changing experience he offered to others through the organs donated from his body. The story also mentions his role as a leader in the InterVarsity chapter at UNC.

Updated stories ran in the Charlotte Observor and the Daily Tarheel, with an additional Tarheel story on the viewing of the ESPN program.
