Campus Ministry in the Summer

Throughout the summer, various campus chapters of InterVarsity are beginning or continuing book clubs. Students from the Veterinarian School at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have read the books The Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren, Everybody’s Normal until You Get to Know Them by John Ortberg, and will continue this summer discussing the book Next Door Savior by Max Lucado. Students from the Medical School will begin to discuss Christian books this fall.

At the University of New Mexico-Albuquerque, InterVarsity students are gathering weekly during the summer for dinner and reading Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire by Dean Merrill, a book about God’s Spirit and prayer. Oliver, a graduate student at the first meeting, asked the group, “Have any of you ever prayed for this group outside of when we are together? I know I never thought to and I think I should.” Everyone in the group committed to pray weekly for one another.
