God is working in fraternities and sororities

TIME magazine’s Jeff Chu visited InterVarsity’s Greek ministry at Indiana University and reported on the visit in the May 9th issue. John Fischer then referenced TIME’s story to write a page in the Purpose Driven Life Daily Devotional. The University of Maryland Diamondback also localized the story for that campus.

There are more exciting stories about what God is doing in fraternities and sororities across the country at InterVarsity’s Greek Ministry website.

Here is another example:

In the spring of 2004, the leaders of the Greek Ministry at Purdue University began praying for Joe, a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

Whenever Beta Theta Pi threw a party, Joe was there. In fact, his fraternity brothers considered Joe the life of the party. Joe had great influence in his fraternity and even within the fraternity council at Purdue. Then he went to the Greek Conference in Indianapolis from February 4-6, 2005 and heard the Gospel. Joe’s fraternity brothers did not know how he had responded to the message of God’s love until the Greek InterVarsity meeting the following week, when he said, “You know, I have partied a lot, and thought that was a lot of fun, but I had no idea that being a Christian is even more fun.”

Joe has also found that being a Christian means following Christ in serving others. He signed up for the Spring Break Habitat for Humanity Trip that the Greek InterVarsity chapter organized, skipping the Acapulco Trip with his pledge brothers because, as Joe says, “I’m trying to make some changes and want to do something for God”.

God is answering prayers at fraternities and sororities and preparing the leaders of tomorrow to be his servants. There are many more stories about Greek InterVarsity.
