“In 1975, two college friends and I were looking for an expression of faith on campus that addressed mind as much as heart. There was plenty of "heart" in the various groups, but we were attracted to a more holistic approach that I had seen in IVP books and HIS Magazine, the old IVCF periodical. We attended a regional IVCF retreat in Montreat, NC, where Pete Hammond was the keynote speaker and our lives were changed. The students there were wonderful, for one thing. And Hammond challenged us, made us think, and inspired us to go back to campus and loose the Spirit of God for a ministry custom-fit to our campus, rather than one-size-fits all. That's how our Furman chapter was born, and the faith nurtured in me has only grown and deepened for more than forty years.”
