Finding Jesus

Jamie Hunte, InterVarsity staff member at the University of Miami, introduced herself to Karen at a picnic that Dr. Shalala, president of the University of Miami held in her back yard for over 2,000 new students. As Jamie and Karen enjoyed the food and listened to the band play the university fight song Karen said, “Although I was raised in a Christian home, I don’t go to church much.” Jamie told Karen about InterVarsity’s Bible studies and other activities and gave her a ride back to campus.

Two weeks later, Karen attended InterVarsity’s large group meeting on campus. After the worship and speaker for the evening, Karen said to Jamie, “I want to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus. Could you pray with me?” Jamie prayed with Karen as she received Jesus as her Savior.

Karen has been active in the fellowship on campus ever since, attending large group meetings, Bible studies, and social events. She attended the fall conference, Sonburst. Through the activities that weekend, Karen got to know other chapter members better and has become part of the witnessing community back on campus.

Over two thousand students were at the picnic that day, but God directed Jamie to Karen, who was searching for Jesus. Every day on campuses across the country, InterVarsity staff are following the lead of the Holy Spirit to lead students to Christ.
