InterVarsity Creates New Leadership Position

News Release

For Immediate Release

(Madison, WI) – InterVarsity Christian Fellowship has appointed Kim Porter to the newly created position of Vice President: Director of Learning and Talent. The new position highlights InterVarsity’s commitment to expanding and fine tuning our ministry to college students and faculty.

“I am very excited about Kim’s appointment,” said InterVarsity president Alec Hill. “She brings experience, passion, and wisdom to a critical area. Our mission can’t move forward unless our people are developed.”

Since joining InterVarsity staff in 1991, Kim has continually sought to cultivate leadership: from a chapter planter developing a core of missional students to Northwest Regional Director growing a dynamic multiethnic team. The last two years, in her role as Director of Staff Director Training, she focused exclusively on the development of leaders and facilitating an environment for learning.

Kim is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University. She has a Master’s degree in Adult Education from Portland State University and is looking forward to shaping a culture of learning at all levels in InterVarsity.

“I am excited to join the Cabinet at this critical time when there is both ownership and momentum with our strategic initiatives,” she said. “I look forward to collaborating with teams and departments across the movement to work towards greater ministry fruitfulness.”

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA is a campus ministry which has worked with students and faculty on U.S. college and university campuses for more than 72 years. InterVarsity has more than 900 chapters active on almost 600 campuses, from Ivy League universities to community colleges. InterVarsity is a charter member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) and the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES).
