“The Lord met me face to face and showed me the revival starting in our generation,” said Nina, a student in the Greek InterVarsity chapter at San Diego State University.

InterVarsity ServeUp invited 9,000 student volunteers to rebuild homes in communities affected by natural disaster, beginning with a commitment to rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Through the program, hundreds of students began following Jesus, and some have even joined InterVarsity staff. One of these InterVarsity students-turned-staff is Sommer Hayes.
Through InterVarsity, Imari was given opportunities to lead. Her passions for caring for her city, her campus, and her community soon became acts of living out her faith and showing others the love of Jesus.
When Alliah left Miami, Florida, for Flint, Michigan, she never expected to find a new community on a college campus.
She had originally moved to attend the University of Michigan-Flint (UM-Flint) to study education. At the start of her program, she was so busy working and taking classes full-time that she never had the chance to learn about the groups that existed on campus. On top of that, Alliah is a mother to two children.
“As soon as classes ended, I left,” she said.
Surprisingly, all that changed when she went on a trip to Disney World.
In the 20 years since InterVarsity ServeUp began, 9,000 college students have served in disaster relief, including 4,000 non-Christians — with 600 putting their faith in Jesus. What began as a one-time response to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina became two decades of rebuilding, evangelism, partnership, and leadership development.

When I graduated college, I didn’t expect to feel so… disconnected.
I was stepping into a new job, learning how to “adult,” figuring out bills and schedules and responsibilities. On paper, life was moving forward. But spiritually? Something felt off, and I couldn’t put a finger on it.
Artificial Intelligence is inescapable. AI songs flood our social media apps, AI videos spread misinformation, and soon enough, AI-written books will dominate the self-publishing world. On campus, college administrators have quickly created policies around usage, and students have to contend with how the technology will impact their lives.
Through the BCM chapter at Michigan State, students can explore faith, unafraid of judgment or misunderstandings. They don’t have to choose between being Black and Christian –– they can celebrate both.
Our culture today confuses the intimate with the romantic, sometimes resulting in confusion between friends and often the sexualization of intimacy. But at its core, intimacy just means to know and be known.
