Week of August 14
- A prayer request from InterVarsity president Tom Lin: “The alt-right/white supremacy demonstrations this weekend at the University of Virginia (UVa) and Charlottesville remind me why universities (and our country) need InterVarsity to proclaim the Gospel. It confronts our sin and offers the only hope of transformation. Please take a moment to pray right now for staff and student leaders at UVa who are gathering this week to prepare for New Student Outreach at the beginning of classes.
- InterVarsity’s annual June Orientation of New Staff (ONS) this year hosted 84 new staff. One who attended was Jesse Lit from Texas. “My heart, mind, and vision was renewed for the campus and God's unique plans for it. I'm so excited to be at UT Dallas next semester!” Pray for Jesse and the 83 others, that God would generously answer their prayers and bring forth a bountiful harvest on each campus.
- As the school year begins, InterVarsity staff and student leaders have been planning and praying over how to best welcome new students to campus and into their communities in the upcoming weeks. Pray that this would be a fruitful season of relationship building for our students, and that leadership teams would work well together and be sustained by and centered on God throughout New Student Outreach. Pray also that incoming students’ transition into the school year would be smooth and that their hearts and minds would be open and ready to encounter Jesus in new ways.
- Christian faculty members participated in InterVarsity faculty conferences at Cedar Campus in Michigan and three other locations this summer. Pray that this time of rest, recreation, and reflection about the connections between their faith and their field will result in a renewed and more fruitful witness as they return to campus this fall.
