Faculty Advisers are role models for students

InterVarsity chapters at campuses across the country are assisted by faculty advisers who also model a life lived for the kingdom of God on campus with excellence and integrity. Randall Hines, associate professor of communication at Susquehanna University (SU) in Pennsylvania, exemplifies the qualities that InterVarsity likes to see in the faculty advisors. In May, 2006, Dr. Hines was awarded the Faculty of the year Award by the SU Student Government Association.

Dr. Hines has taught at Susquehanna since 2002. “It’s been an honor to work with InterVarsity,” he says. “The staff is training Susquehanna University students to have a real hunger for the lost students.”

Dr. Hines is the co-author of two recently published books, The Writer’s Toolbox: A Comprehensive Guide for PR and Business Communication with Dr. Joe Basso, and Feeling at Home in God’s Family with Dr. Stewart Brown. One book is in his field of public relations, the other book shows churches how to become welcoming congregations.

Dr. Hines received his undergraduate degree from Kent State University. He went to Bethel Seminary in Minnesota to earn a masters degree and received his doctorate from Texas A&M.
