The Four Loves for Student Affairs

God’s invitation to student affairs professionals

InterVarsity’s Student Affairs Christian Network believes that God is inviting staff and administrators, individually and collectively, to love God and one another, love our campuses, love our vocations, and love of our world. We pray that our community encourages and stretches you in each of these areas:

Love God & One Another

As Jesus says, the first and second commandment, to love God and to love one another, are inseparable—they are the foundation from which flows our faith. Thus, we invite student affairs professionals into a journey of spiritual formation--of knowing Jesus and being transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit, while also seeking to foster communities that demonstrate deep care for one another. When two or three are gathered in His name, Jesus promises that He is present, He will answer their prayers, and that others will know He’s alive through their love for one another. We invite SA pros to gather with colleagues on their campuses to pray together, to love one another, and together to serve as Christ’s ambassadors on campus.

Love Your Campus

God invites us to love all the people we meet on campus—students, administrators, faculty, staff. Those who do not yet know Jesus may only hear or see the good news through the love and lives of their colleagues. We also believe God invites us to love the campus through the work we do—our service, administration and student support.

Love Your Vocation

Staff and administrators have unique roles in the university that contribute to student development, wellbeing, career-exploration, and so much more. Knowing that God has something to say on every one of these unique roles in student affairs, we set out to explore with staff and administrators how God is revealed through the work they do. God invites SA pros to love their vocation through seeking truth, helping students grow and flourish, and promoting God’s shalom in every corner of campus.

Love Our World

Most everything that breaks the heart of God shows up on campus, and out of the university come ideas that change the world—for both good and bad. How might God invite SA pros to be part bringing Kingdom shalom to campus and human flourishing in the world?
