Spiritual Care in a Climate Crisis
Hosted by Talitha Amadea-Aho
The starting point for this webinar is not news: the world as we know it is shifting. Several millennia of climate stability have come to an abrupt end. The young people of today do not remember stability. They see the world through climate-colored glasses. Climate change is creating a spiritual emergency that is hitting their generation harder than any other. We must learn how to offer spiritual care that is informed by the spiritual-ecological crisis of this time. Talitha is the author of In Deep Waters: Spiritual Care for Young People in a Climate Crisis.

Cultivating Creation Care
Hosted by Isaiah Smith and Lisa Liou
In Genesis 1:26, God said that man was made so “that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals” (New International Version, 2011). This translation may sound so oppressive, but what if that “rule” focused not on the idea of power over creation, but the aspect of rule that involves care and tending? Caring for creation is something that seemingly has become harder do in the age of concrete jungles and an increasing amount of time on our ‘digital lives,’ but how can we care for creation even in these settings? How can conservation, restoration, and/or cultivation of nature be a way to commune with and explore the nature of God? In this seminar we will explore these questions and how creation care can help us to enrich our physical, mental and spiritual lives.
