Rev. Phil Bowling-Dyer
Senior Fellow for Diversity
Phil Bowling-Dyer has served with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA for 36 years. He has held various positions in the ministry, including serving as the director of campus work in the San Francisco East Bay, as national director of InterVarsity’s campus work in the Black community (Black Campus Ministries Director), and as the organization’s national diversity trainer.
Currently, he splits his time between two roles. As an Associate Regional Director, he supervises campus ministers and works to advance InterVarsity’s mission on college and university campuses in northern California, Reno, and Hawai’i. Through the other half of his role, Phil serves as a Senior Fellow with the InterVarsity Institute, focusing on thriving ministry partnerships between peoples of different cultures and ethnicities. In this role, he coaches, trains, and consults churches and organizations around the country.
Phil was born in Oakland, California, and is a product of Oakland Public Schools. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (marine biology) and the American Baptist Seminary of the West (M.Div.). He received his ordination to the ministry of Jesus Christ through Allen Temple Baptist Church in 2000.
