It all starts with an encounter with God
The powerful story of what God is doing at the Delano campus of Bakersfield College all started with an encounter with God. Socorro and Katie didn't just decide they wanted to start a movement at a school nearly an hour away. They prayed, listened, and encountered God for themselves.
One day during listening prayer, I felt a huge call for the Delano campus. I was like, “Lord what do you want us to do with this?" And I felt like He said, “Just go.”
This is where new movements always begin: an encounter with God. Look at Peter's calling to share the gospel with Cornelius and his community in Acts 10. It started with a prayer time and a vision on a rooftop. Or look at Barnabus and Paul setting off on a journey that would see churches planted across the Roman Empire. It started with an encounter with God during a prayer time in Acts 13.
What about you? Is God saying something to you about another campus?
Go on a prayer walk and see what God says
Prayer walking is a great way to encounter God for yourself and see if he's calling you to adopt a campus. Prayer walks help you explore, learn, and interact with people on the campus you're considering adopting, all while deepening relationships with mission partners. So gather some of your partners and use the guide below to help you prayer walk the campus you feel God is calling you to.
