Have a Mission-Minded Idea?

Students are brilliant, who carry with them brilliant ideas. When given the opportunity, students change the world.

But even great ideas are not just made; they need to be born.

Urbana 12 has partnered with Praxis Labs to create Launch Lab—a program that helps Urbana participants effectively collaborate, dream, and shape innovative ideas that benefit God’s kingdom.

Launch Lab is the first of its kind. There is no model for this type of program,” said said Diana Collymore, Urbana Afternoon Program Manager.

Currently, no one in the professional world is offering this kind of program to college students.

So what are the requirements for attending Launch Lab?

1-      a mission-minded idea relating to any sector in the world.

2-      want to take your idea to the next level.

3-      interested in collaborating with others.

Participants will hear from two successful entrepreneurs, have access to live coaches on-site, a free workbook (to help participants shape their ideas), and the opportunity to collaborate with their peers.

The goal of Launch Lab is to 'bring people together to create good.'

“We want to open the door to hundreds of people to take ideas to the next level, to create a community of equals, and to provide opportunity to those with little to no connections or privilege,” said Collymore.

Collaborative learning will be Launch Lab’s main strategy in helping Urbana 12 participants shape and develop their ideas.

Launch Lab participants will get the opportunity to pitch their idea, vote on ideas, and have a chance to win seed money. The winner will receive $1500 (seed money) and the second prize will win $1000 (seed money). The top three runner-up participants will receive the 2012 Urbana and Praxis Awards.

There’s no better place for world-changers and their ideas to be developed than at Urbana. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to collaborate with other mission-minded college students and coaches.

Take a risk. Bring your potentially world-changing idea to Launch Lab and take your idea to the next level.

Launch Lab will be open daily from 12:30-7:00pm in the Washington Room, Corner of Washington and 10th street, in the Renaissance Grand.
