No Longer the Only One – Ashley's Story

Throughout high school, Ashley’s life was full of sadness. She questioned if she had a purpose and wondered what the point was of life itself. Then she met Grace in a class at Scripps College. She didn’t know why, but she felt like she should sit next to her.

Could Friendship Be a Salve for Church Hurt?

I always tell my students that tax collectors were kind of like mobsters. They weren’t your typical blue-collar criminals; they were the worst kind of traitor, getting rich off the imperial oppression of their own people.

Fraternity, Friendship, & Forgiveness: Max’s Story

At the Indiana University, the Greek system is one of the largest in the country. During the 2024-2025 school year, two students named Mike and Ned decided to start a Bible study in their fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon. They hoped they could help their brothers follow Jesus like they had.

Every "Yes" Matters: Why We Celebrate Faith Decisions

In InterVarsity, we make a big deal about decisions to follow Jesus. This year, we counted 2,670 first-time decisions to follow Jesus across the United States. Discipleship with Jesus is a daily decision to “act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God” (Micah 6:8). But formal moments of decision play a key role in our lives with God too.

Growing in Love Since 1941

For 84 years, InterVarsity has been spreading the hope of Jesus on campuses throughout the country, and across the world.

It started on November 14, 1941, when InterVarsity Christian Fellowship was officially recognized as a nonprofit organization in the United States. Since then, God has been using us to reach college students through seasons of war and revival, division and peace, sickness and hope.

To Wait or To Date

I met my husband at UW-Milwaukee’s InterVarsity chapter. At that time, there was a culture of not dating. Two of the male student leaders were especially advocates for creating a culture of brothers and sisters in Christ. My now husband, Ethan, was one of them.

How to Invite Your Friends to Follow Jesus

"I've described myself as an atheist for as long as I can remember," Brian said. "But now, I'd say I'm more agnostic." Brian and I have been talking about faith since we were roommates in college.

"So," he said, stirring his coffee thoughtfully, "I know you're deeply religious in ways I'm not, and I'm intrigued to know more about what that means to you."

Transformed by Scripture: Neil’s Story

Neil, now an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin, encountered InterVarsity not through an invitation, a roommate, or a table, but from a humble flyer.

“We’ll start this ourselves”— 25 Years of South Asian American InterVarsity

At The University of Texas at Austin in the early 2000s, a group of South Asian students noticed that their corner of campus was overlooked. No campus ministries or churches sought to evangelize to or create Christian community for the growing population of Indian students on campus.

The Conference Mountaintop Isn’t the High. It’s the Detox.

We go to retreats and conferences hoping to “get filled.” And then we come home to a full calendar. To headlines filled with conflict and catastrophe. To the guilt of not living up to what we committed to. Some of us experience a lingering ache of “I still don’t know what I’m doing with my life.” So we say things like, “I just wish I could’ve stayed on the mountain.” But what if we’ve misunderstood the point? What if the mountaintop was never the high? What if it was the detox?
